I Am The Man. I Am The Mirror!
On January 24th, 2015 I along with my good friend and Rapper "$hooterRVA" had the honor of being the opening act for the up and coming artists Evan Barlow Music group at The Camel in Richmond VIRGINIA! Not only did we sale out our first show ever but more importantly This would be my first step as I embarked on a new journey that I personally believe was long over due. that journey was Making/Performing/living MUSIC.
I have always loved music very passionately. My father was and still is a music nut and raised me on stories of Jimi Hendrix, Santana,CREAM, the Stones he a lot like my self was a concert enthusiast. He opened my mind to the idea of music more as a way of personal expression rather than simple entertainment. He also taught me that Creativity doesn't come in only one form and that it is important to be accepting of other forms of creation. He simplified the fact that creation embodies and reflects all aspects of life, music is just one of many that cross all regions of the world. He used to say to me as a child "Luke , how do you speak to someone with out using words? MUSIC is the language of the world my son.
I like to think everyone is creative in there own way they just need a medium that lets them express the beautiful immersion of ideas that i considered mental art as i like to call it. Getting these mental ideas into a tangible format is not always easy but that is part of the beauty of art, if it was easy it wouldn't be special, IT WOULDN'T BE ART. Personally I always knew I was capable of being a very creative person I just didn't know which medium would allow me to best express it.
$hooter approached me in early January and offered me the job as his hype man. At the time I didn't really know how I was going to be a successful hype man but I knew I had the positivity and the energy to accomplish anything. I studied $hooters music for three weeks straight almost until it became apart of me. I could see his verses in images and i could feel his music inside of my head. This was when i realized exactly what my job was: to make the crowd feel it just the same. A lot of people don't really give much credit to the hype men in the music industry and this is because of over saturated hype that takes away from the actual performers show. I knew i wanted no part of this stereotype. After all this was $hooters Project i wanted no part in stealing the show from the person who opened the door to performing music for me. This is where I created my Stage Presence "MVXIMUS The MIRROR" I am not a typical hype man, i see my self as a mirror on stage looking out at the crowd. My only job is to reciprocate all of the amazing and positive energy the crowd provided me. It worked better than i could have ever imagined as we continued to feed off one another so much so that the room filled with harmonious happiness. I fed off the crowd they fed off of me. The music was the medium and the art was the
actual live interaction between performer and spectator.

its crazy to me that The Camel is where i got my start. This being the same venue where I watched so many flourish before me. It was the same place I would fall in line as a musical performer. It was truly a dream come true! I finally found my home, On Stage! I knew the second the mic dropped after our last song that something very special very different had just happened to me. I had finally found my place to be all that I wanted to be. all that I could be. I had finally found my medium for my creative outlet.
I would personally like to thank The Camel, Evan Barlow Music Group, @AndrewHypes, and everyone who came out to make this show so special. This is only just the beginning for my self and my homie $hooter! be on the look out for his mixtape "Improbable Cause" very soon or check out his Soundcloud here. |
Check out my first piece of produced music ( the highlighted link below) "Introduction to the world"at the link below. This piece of music is very special to me because it marks the beginning of an era in my life. That is creating music. I have always been interested in and passionate about producing but but never saw it actually coming to fruition. It is very simple, but hits home as a good instrumental should.
